Dharohara Vidya ("we", "us") provides a mobile app and website for reading sacred and heritage texts. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and your rights over it.
Information we collect
When you create an account, you provide:
- Email address
- Full name and a public display name
- Date of birth
- Gender
- Mobile number (with country code)
- Optional profile avatar image
As you use the app, we store activity you generate:
- Reflections you write (marked private or public by you)
- Bookmarks and reading progress
- Points, streaks, and leaderboard standing
- Likes you give to public reflections
What is public
Other users only ever see your display name and avatar, and only on reflections you explicitly choose to make public. Your email, phone number, date of birth, and gender are never shown to other users.
How we use your information
- To create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
- To provide app features: reading, reflections, bookmarks, and gamification.
- To operate the community reflections and leaderboard features.
- To understand aggregate usage (e.g. daily active users) — never to expose an individual's personal data.
How we protect it
- Passwords are stored only as bcrypt hashes — never in plain text.
- All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted with HTTPS.
- Access is authenticated with short-lived tokens.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it with third parties for advertising. We may use service providers (e.g. error monitoring, cloud hosting) that process data on our behalf under confidentiality obligations.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the app (Profile → About & legal → Delete account). Deletion permanently removes your profile, reflections, bookmarks, points, and streak. You can also request a copy of your data in-app (Download my data).
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
We may update this policy; we will revise the "last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify users in the app.
